The Danger of Inconsistent Visuals

Want to know a sure-fire way to absolutely confuse the sh*t out of your customers?

Serve up in-consistent visuals in your marketing. I’m talking about just using any old font, some days your brand colours are blue and hey, tomorrow, it might be green. Definitely don’t use the same look and feel across your website, socials, or emails.

🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Ok, time to get serious.

Maintaining a consistent look and feel across all your marketing is absolutely crucial. Especiallllllly when you want customers to take a specific action - say, buy your product.

Because if your emails look entirely different from your website, and your social media presence seems unrelated - How on earth can you expect your customers to keep up with what you are trying to tell them?

Your visual brand is often the first thing customers notice and remember about you. You want that first impression to be a good one. And you also want them to remember you and the action you are asking them to take.

SHOP NOW - yeah, but with who??? You look like 4 different businesses!

From logos and website designs to social media feeds and marketing materials, visual elements hold immense power. They convey your brand's personality, values, and offerings. In other words, a consistent visual identity tells customers exactly who you are, what you sell, and why they should buy from you.

I've witnessed firsthand the impact of terrible branding on the entire marketing funnel. But more importantly, I’ve seen the awesome results achieved when brands have a cohesive visual identity $$$

As a business owner, you most likely have competitors. And in a competitive marketplace, captivating visuals are crucial for standing out from the crowd.

Before customers even read the words on your website or ad, they take in the visual elements and form an impression of your brand. This initial impression is essential and should accurately reflect your business.

Colours, typography, and design elements evoke emotions and connections. This helps customers not only establish a deeper connection with your brand - but also trust it.

Recognition, Repetition, Recognition, Repetition. When customers see consistent visual elements across your different digital platforms (website, social, email)  it strengthens your brand's presence in their minds.

A recognisable logo, consistent colour palette, and cohesive design language contribute to brand recall and create a sense of familiarity. Why does this matter? Well, over time, this recognition can turn into sales and, ultimately, customer loyalty.

Platforms like Instagram, Pinterest, and Facebook thrive on visually appealing content, which is all part of visual branding. By incorporating images, videos, and graphics in social media posts that complement and enhance your brand identity, you can significantly boost engagement, increase reach, and drive traffic that leads to sales. #yippee

So, please, please make sure that visual branding is an integral part of your digital marketing strategy.

Are you nodding along, thinking, “Ok, I hear you loudddd and clear! But how do I action this?”

If you don’t have a set of brand guidelines (or are confused as to what that even is), we need to talk.
